Vitamin C, A Powerful Supplement for Dogs

Vitamin C is for more than preventing colds, this natural supplement not only supports the immune system but works as an antioxidant, strengthens connective tissue in bones and joints, is vital for collagen metabolism.

Vitamin C therefore helps alleviate pain associated with hip dysplasia. Although vitamin c is a water soluble vitamins and produced by the  dogs own bod, there are times when extra supplementation can be beneficial. Dosage is approximately 10mg/kg BID.

Vitamin C acts as a helper (a co factor enzyme) in some of the reactions building the collagen in the tissue. Connective tissue includes blood vessels, scar tissue, tendons and muscles and cartilage. As an antioxidant vitamin c plays a role in the detoxifying processes of the body and plays a role with increasing the effectiveness and production of Vitamin E.

Most breeders and veterinarians recommend daily supplementation in big and large dogs such as Great Danes, Great Pyrenees, Rottweilers, and German Shepherds to help protect against joint disease.

Pet and Kennel Supply carries pure vitamin c in the powder form which is easily added mixed with their dog food and is ideal for those feeding raw diets.
